How to Find a Company's Official Careers Page

A recruitment platform domain does not automatically mean a job is fake. Many employers use third-party applicant tracking systems. The key question is whether the employer's own website leads you to that platform.

Start from the company, not from the forwarded link

Search for the company's main website and look for links such as Careers, Jobs, Join Us or Opportunities. This gives you an employer-controlled starting point. From there, the company may keep applications on its own domain or redirect you to an ATS.

Company-owned careers site vs ATS

Company-owned

Example pattern

careers.company.com
jobs.company.com
company.com/careers

Branding, domain ownership and the application flow are controlled directly by the employer.

Authorized ATS

Example pattern

company.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com
jobs.lever.co/company
boards.greenhouse.io/company

This can be legitimate when the employer's official careers site links to it. The ATS host itself should not be treated as proof of the employer identity.

Five checks

  1. Open the employer's official homepage independently.
  2. Use its Careers or Jobs navigation.
  3. Search the same role or requisition ID.
  4. Confirm the employer-owned page redirects to the same ATS/application URL.
  5. Re-check the final domain before uploading personal information.

Why HD Careers separates company logos from ATS favicons

An ATS favicon may show Workday, Greenhouse or Lever rather than the employer. HD Careers therefore treats the company identity and recruitment-platform identity separately. This prevents a generic ATS icon from being displayed as though it were the employer's logo.

Useful distinction: “third-party domain” does not mean “fake.” What matters is whether the employer authorizes that destination and whether the job details match.
